If you’re running a BOGO (Buy One, Get One) discount and want to exclude specific items, Shopify’s default tools won’t let you do that.
Here’s a quick guide to doing it with full control using Regios Discounts.

Step-by-step: How to exclude items from a BOGO deal

1. Create the Discount

  • Open the app and click “Create product discount”
  • Give it a title, like “BOGO Exclusion”

2. Choose the Logic Template

  • Click “Edit logic”
  • Select the Buy X, Get X template

3. Set Your “Buy” Conditions

  • Add a condition that targets your base collection
(e.g. “Product is in collection: Example Products”)

4. Set Your “Get” Conditions

  • Add a 25% off rule
  • Apply it to items in the same collection
  • Exclude specific products by adding multiple “Product title does not include” rules
(e.g. exclude “Red shirt,” “Blue shirt,” and “Green shirt”)

5. Save and Test

  • Save the logic
  • Go to the Test Discounts page
  • Try adding the excluded items to the cart — they should not receive the discount
  • Confirm eligible products still do

Recap

This setup gives you full control over what gets discounted — without needing to clone products or mess with tags manually. You can exclude individual items within the same collection and apply the discount an unlimited number of times per order.
