How to Duplicate Discounts

Use the "Duplicate" button

Discounts now have a "Duplicate" button; in the majority of cases, you should just click that to avoid manual duplication.

Duplicate as a different discount class

A discount's class (product, order or shipping) can't be changed after it's created. To turn an order discount into a product discount (or any other class), make a copy in the new class:

1. Open a product, order or shipping discount.
2. Click Duplicate, then choose Duplicate as product discount, Duplicate as order discount or Duplicate as shipping discount.
3. Read the summary of what's copied and what changes, then click Duplicate.
4. Review the new discount and save it.

What's copied: the logic, title, method, dates, combinations, tags and usage limit.

What changes:

• Usage counts and analytics stay on the original discount.
• "Limit to one use per customer" starts fresh on the copy.
• An order discount's "Stack discounts on top of sale price and product discounts" setting becomes "Calculate discount based on compare at price" on a product discount.
• An order discount takes its value off the order, while a product discount takes it off each eligible item. Totals can differ when other product discounts apply, so test the new discount on the "Test discounts" page.
• If the original has more than 1 redeem code, the copy won't have the codes. The dialog has an Export codes button and the steps to move them over.

Once the copy works the way you want, deactivate the original.

Specialized discount types (for example B2B or metafield discounts) pick their class on the edit page instead, so they keep the plain "Duplicate" button.

Manually

Making duplicates of existing discounts can be done in few steps, these steps are described in two parts;

Part 1 - Export Logic

On your existing discount page, at the top right, locate the “Logic” button, Click it

Click “Export”, and you’ll be prompted with your browser file download interface. Download the JSON file.

Part 2 - Import Logic

On your duplicate discount page, at the top right, locate the “Logic” button, Click it

Click “Import”, you’ll see the “Import Logic” modal

Upload the earlier downloaded JSON file, Click Import. Save your duplicated discount.

With that, you’ve successfully duplicated your discount.
