Controlling What Order To Apply Discounts To Products In

What this setting controls

For a single discount with a quantity cap (e.g. "10% off, up to 2 items"), this decides which cart lines win the limited slots. It does NOT decide which of several different discounts apply — that's a separate Shopify behavior.

Options

  • In the order they appear in the cart: Whatever order Shopify gives the cart lines in, is the order discounts will be applied.
  • Discount highest priced products first: The most expensive items in the cart will be discounted first. This is the default.
  • Discount lowest priced products first: The least expensive items in the cart will be discounted first.

How is the highest/lowest priced item determined?

When you choose "Discount highest/lowest priced products first," our app will sort the cart lines based on the price of an individual item (not the total price of the cart line).

For example, if your cart has 2 lines:

  • 3 x Product A (which costs $10 per item)
  • 2 x Product B (which costs $15 per item)

Even though both cart lines have a total cost of $30, our app will consider Product B to the highest priced product in the cart.

Also, this sort is based on the "price" (not the "compare at price") before any product discounts apply.

Where are these settings?

This setting is part of the collapsible Advanced Options section at the very end of the discount page as highlighted in the following screenshot.

If you're currently in the fullscreen logic builder, click the "Back" button at the top left of the screen to escape to the "Edit" page and find these settings.
